Bad Times At The El Royale Review

Bad Times At The El Royale Review

I just finished watching the movie, Bad Times At The El Royale and wanted to share my immediate thoughts on the movie. The movie has been out for quite some time now but, when I watched the trailer months ago it did not grab my attention. After the movie had came out I did not hear any reviews on the movie at all. Until I went searching for movies to watch and it always came up. So, I literally just finished watching the movie almost 15 minutes ago and surprisingly I enjoyed it. This movie is definitely not going to be one of my favorite movies and I would not even recommend this movie. The movie was essentially all over the place in plot of the movie. While watching the movie I could not get a clear idea as to what the movie is actually about. The story was just not strong enough but the plot twists are what made me stay and continue to watch. I love movies that are unpredictable and with this movie, I could not at all predict what was going to happen next so for that part I thoroughly enjoyed. The acting was okay for the most part. Me being a big Thor fan I was not impressed with Chris Hemsworth acting, it was actually mediocre. Yes, his body is amazing and the reason many watched but his accent went in and out the whole movie. He was not a convincing villain. I did like the concept of the hotel is that you can either room in California/ or Nevada. Coming to the realization just now this movie is not a good movie at all. While writing this I realized I have wasted two hours watching a movie with no plot, a small climax, and A stupid ending. The only things that were good were the visuals, the feels, and the unpredictability of the movie. If had to explain this movie to someone I could not because I honestly can not tell what I just watched. The ending was very um.. not good too.

summary of the movie: The El Royale is run-down hotel that sits on the border between California and Nevada. It soon becomes a seedy battleground when seven strangers — a cleric, a soul singer, a traveling salesman, two sisters, the manager and the mysterious Billy Lee — converge on a fateful night for one last shot at redemption before everything goes wrong.

My Review: Honestly, I don’t understand the hype for this movie. This movie is a typical romantic comedy. This movie is very predictable in every sense. The acting was decent at most. This movie is definitely for young girls who believe love works exactly like the movie. All in all, this movies is typical and mediocre. I can’t believe people are going crazy over something that has been done a million times over. But, I can honestly say the fact the lead actress was Vietnamese refreshing and major. I’m not necessarily saying this movie was bad it’s just something I have seen a hundred times before just with different actors. she fakes dates the boy, then fall in love with, then they date ‘for real’, break up, and at the end of the movie somehow get back together. Typical. I would only recommend if you want to watch Netflix only.
