Hancock (2008)

p176343_v_v8_ac.jpg

A scruffy superhero named Hancock (Will Smith) protects the citizens of Los Angeles but leaves horrendous collateral damage in the wake of every well-intentioned feat. That’s OK with Hancock; he doesn’t care what people think and is just as likely to be found dozing on a park bench as saving a damsel in distress. However, after saving the life of a PR executive (Jason Bateman) and meeting the man’s beautiful wife (Charlize Theron), he realizes that he may have a sensitive side after all.

Mini Review: First black superhero?

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

Suicide Squad (2016)

p11319046_v_v8_av.jpg

Figuring they’re all expendable, a U.S. intelligence officer decides to assemble a team of dangerous, incarcerated supervillains for a top-secret mission. Now armed with government weapons, Deadshot (Will Smith), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Captain Boomerang, Killer Croc and other despicable inmates must learn to work together. Dubbed Task Force X, the criminals unite to battle a mysterious and powerful entity, while the diabolical Joker (Jared Leto) launches an evil agenda of his own.

Mini Review: Don’t listen to the critics this movie was decent.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Bright (2017)

p14381112_v_v8_ab.jpg

In an alternate present day, humans, orcs, elves, and fairies have been coexisting since the beginning of time. Two police officers, one a human, the other an orc, embark on a routine night patrol that will alter the future of their world as they know it. Battling both their own personal differences as well as an onslaught of enemies, they must work together to protect a young female elf and a thought-to-be-forgotten relic, which, in the wrong hands, could destroy everything.

Mini Review: Again, do not listen to the critics this movie was great and different.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Bad Boy 2 (2003)

p31357_v_v8_aa.jpg

The drug ecstasy is flowing into Miami, and the police want it stopped. Police Detective Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) and his partner, Mike Lowrey (Will Smith), are just the men to do it. They track the drugs to a Cuban smuggler, Johnny Tapia (Jordi Mollà), who is also involved in a bloody war with Russian and Haitian mobsters. If that isn’t bad enough, there’s tension between the two cops because Lowrey is romantically involved with Burnett’s sister, Syd (Gabrielle Union).

Mini Review: Definitely in my top movies I can watch over and over again.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Focus (2015)

p10939169_v_v8_ay.jpg

Nicky (Will Smith), a veteran con artist, takes a novice named Jess (Margot Robbie) under his wing. While Nicky teaches Jess the tricks of the trade, the pair become romantically involved; but, when Jess gets uncomfortably close, Nicky ends their relationship. Three years later, Nicky is in Buenos Aires working a very dangerous scheme when Jess — now an accomplished femme fatale — unexpectedly shows up. Her appearance throws Nicky for a loop at a time when he cannot afford to be off his game.

Mini Review:  I am more aware of my surroundings now because of this movie.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Pursuit of Happyness (2006)

p162523_v_v8_ab.jpg

Life is a struggle for single father Chris Gardner (Will Smith). Evicted from their apartment, he and his young son (Jaden Christopher Syre Smith) find themselves alone with no place to go. Even though Chris eventually lands a job as an intern at a prestigious brokerage firm, the position pays no money. The pair must live in shelters and endure many hardships, but Chris refuses to give in to despair as he struggles to create a better life for himself and his son.

Mini Review: one of the only movies that can make me cry.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Shark Tale (2004)

p34876_p_v8_af.jpg

Underachiever Oscar (Will Smith) is a pint-sized fish with grand aspirations. When mob-connected great white shark Frankie (Michael Imperioli) is accidentally killed, Oscar concocts a story with Frankie’s peace-loving brother Lenny (Jack Black) that it was he who murdered the shark. Suddenly hailed “Sharkslayer” by his aquatic brethren, Oscar has bigger fish to fry when Frankie’s father, mob boss Don Lino (Robert De Niro), dispatches his henchmen to track down his son’s killer.

Mini Review: Classic.
